Jin Shin Do Acupressure

"The way of the compassionate spirit" is the guiding energy behind this system of acupressure. It was developed by Psychotherapist Iona Teeguarden. Jin Shin Do is a combination of ancient and modern techniques to balance the natural flow of body and mind. This form of acupressure uses a gentle, but firm finger pressure on acupoints or meridians (the invisible channels of energy in the body). Energy can become blocked along these meridians causing discomfort. Jin Shin Do aims to release the blockages and rebalance the energy flow. The client uses body-mind awareness techniques and participates in the release process through breathing, focusing, and visualization.

It has been used to relieve:
  • neck shoulder and back tension/pain
  • joint discomfort
  • fatigue
  • headaches
  • digestive difficulties
  • chest and respiratory difficulties
  • insomnia
  • menstrual problems
  • stress

Myofascial Release

Fascia is the connective tissue that acts as a network through the entire body. It covers every structure it surrounds (muscle, bone, blood vessels, brain, spinal cord etc.) are all covered by this tissue. When any strain is put on this area of the body- pain, poor circulation, muscle tension, and possible injury occurs.

Myofascial Release is a bodywork technique that uses a series of stretches, pressure, and massage to release dysfunction and restore mobility throughout the body.

Neuromuscular Therapy

Trigger points are sensitive areas of soft tissue that act as the body's nervous system response to trauma. (Trauma-overuse, poor diet, stress etc.) Many times these areas are painful and refer pain to other areas of the body, especially when pressure is applied.

Numbness, tingling, weakness, and lack of range of motion are other symptoms.

Neuromuscular Therapy is a manual therapy that interrupts nerve impulses to the spinal cord, reducing the intensity of nervous activity within the tissue and forcing out toxins that have accumulated.

This results in:
  • Increased range of motion
  • Flexibility
  • Strength and vitality
  • Pain reduction

Prenatal Massage

During pregnancy a woman's body undergoes numerous physical changes. Weight gain puts undue pressure on muscles and the skeleton. Hormones are secreted to soften joints and ligaments making the body more flexible for labor and delivery.

Prenatal Massage is used to ease the discomfort for these changes. It is performed on specially designed orthopedic cushions, which allow the woman to lie comfortably face down (even into later months) alleviating pressure.

Benefits of Prenatal Massage:
  • Provides relaxation during and after pregnancy
  • Fosters nurturing maternal touch
  • Reduces edema and blood pressure, relieves varicose veins, increases circulation

Postpartum Massage
  • Facilitates emotional adjustment
  • Promotes structural realignment of the skeleton
  • Promotes recovery from cesarean birth

Raindrop Therapy

This technique is done while the client lies in the prone position. Oils are then directly dropped onto the spine and worked gently with light strokes, stimulating impulses and dispersing oils into the nervous system. This helps the body kill viruses that hibernate along the spine, and uses eight oils specifically for immune support, balance of electrical energies of the body, inflammation in bones, muscle and joints, and to cleanse the lymphatic system.

It is used for:
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Migraines
  • Any nervous system disorder
Stone Therapy

Sedimentary and basalt stones are used this relaxation massage with various techniques to calm the body and create harmony. Warm and cold stones are used throughout the massage. These stones are specifically known as generators of energy promoting balance in the body overall.
