As a massage therapist and bodyworker for almost 20 years, I have tried, tested and found many tools to facilitate wellness. In my learning and experimenting on my own system in hope for recovery, I have found that herbal extracts have become an extremely wonderful and powerful tool to shifting the body.
Luminat was formed after years searching for answers for both a genetic disorder and digestive condition that many misdiagnose, over medicate or merely say there is no cure.
In 2006, I suffered from a severe rash all over my body which was believed to have started from a root canal. I had no idea of the correlation until years later. This infection led to a weakened immune system and "woke up"a genetic condition called MTHFR (symptoms only appear when the body is weak creating a delicate body reactive to nearly everything).
After the agitation of infection and an weakened system my gut became paralyzed causing a lack of absorption, passage and breakdown of nutrients in any way. Nutrients had a double edged sword while on one hand great for me, possibly destroying me all at the same time.
Others with this condition alone known as gastroparesis are living in a hospital and sometimes not for very long, as they suffer in severe pain and many times must be fed through a tube, have a pacemaker or just waste away as the body doesn't function as they await their inevitable death sentence.
Somehow I have been spared of that road (at least for now). When I have shared my story with others they almost cannot believe I am sick as they look at my schedule, my will and my level of wellness. While there is no cure for my condition(s), there are many things to manage them. The trick is finding out what "they" are. For this I am truly grateful.
I have gained the knowledge of those I have encountered that have become a gift as they have mentored and guided me through understanding the dance of how disease operates in ways I could have never learned through a text. I believe that our lives are a gift and with them we are to open the box and share what's inside. I recently went to my specialist for a check up in NYC and she stepped back in her exam with me and started to ask how I could help her!
In our weakness we truly can be made strong. I am still learning as every moment the body shifts with twists and turns we sometimes cannot wrap our minds around. In the stillness though, if one pays attention the body will always tell us what we need. You are your best roadmap. Others can allow us to understand the pieces, but only we can listen and know fully as we are not just visitors but inhabitants of the vessels we have been given.
I have known what it is to suffer greatly, and I have known what it is to feel pain at a level I never thought I could nor did I ever know I wanted. However, in my struggle I have been given one of the biggest blessings and honor to know that there is hope for those in distress, there is freedom from pain and miracles are truly possible.
